About Criccieth
(Criccieth Castle)

Winner of 'Wales in Bloom' 5 years running, the picturesque town of Criccieth has become known as 'The Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia' & it really is a gem to discover! Situated  at the northern end of Cardigan Bay, Criccieth faces south and the hours of sunshine recorded here equals the record of Devon and Cornwall. Generally the summers are warm and winters mild. Home to the historic & majestic 13th Century Criccieth Castle jutting out dramatically into Tremadog bay, Criccieth itself hosts a charming high street & numerous tea shops serving freshly prepared cakes and local specialities as well as the famous, original (& still the best!) Cadwaladers Ice cream parlour & Cafe.

In addition there are multiple restaurants for every taste and the town is only 15 minutes from the world famous Portmeirion Italiante village which hosts two fabulous A La Carte restaurants and Pwllheli which boasts a Hotel with the only Michelin star restaurant in North Wales & one of only 2 in all of Wales! Criccieth also hosts a regular, busy Antiques Fair with plenty to see and something for everyone. Fairs are open on Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year and every Monday throughout July, August and September. Fairs are also held on Mondays at the October half-term holiday and on New Years Day.

If you're lucky enough to catch one, Criccieth Fair Days have been held for over 100 years & are held on 23 May and 29 June each year. If a Fair Day falls on a Sunday, it is held the following day. The Fair is held in the main Town Car Park and is accompanied by a large outdoor market which is located on the Maes and surrounding roads.
